Interim Christian Education Director for Children and Youth: Evelyn Hutton and her husband Church arrived in northern Virginia 28 years ago. They came from Germany with four boys (ages one month to nearly eight years) in tow and soon found their church home at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Burke. At Good Shepherd Evelyn became a Sunday School teacher and then a coordinator for season planning. She was a Vacation Bible School volunteer and after several years became the director. She served on the vestry. Seventeen years ago the Interim Rector asked her to step in and run the programs for children and their famlies until a rector was called. When the rector arrived Evelyn stayed on as Director of Children's Christian Education and was there until the end of October 2012. Last fall Evelyn decided it was time to retire. She and Church then joined their eldest son and his family at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Arlington where they have been worshipping since last November. Evelyn and Church still live in Annandale. The boys are grown and married. They have to granddaughters and a grandson.
