Interim Rector: The Reverend Martha Wallace (called ‘Martha’ or ‘Pastor Martha’) has specialized in transition ministry since 2006 when she relocated to the Washington, DC-area. Martha received her Master of Divinity in 1999 from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Diocese of Michigan, where she served as Associate Rector in three churches between 2000 and 2006. Before entering the priesthood, Martha had a long and successful career in management at GE, Ford and Chrysler. Martha obtained a M.S. in management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where she was an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow, a law degree from Suffolk Law School and an undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). Martha and her husband Dennis White live in Washington, DC. Martha served as Inerim Rector at Emmanuel from September 2011 to June 2013.
Priest Associate: The Rev. Sonley Joseph (left) was born in Haiti in a Christian family in 1974, and grew up in a small town named Lascahobas located in the center of the country. He received his master's degree in systematic theology at Virginia Theological Seminary. While studying at the seminary, Sonley ministered to Emmanuel, 2011-2012.
Seminarian: William Charles McMillen, II (Chuck - pictured at right) received a Masters in Divinity from the Virginia Theological Seminary and will receive a Masters in Divinity. While studying at the seminary, Chuck gave sermons, supervised the acolytes, lead the adult education class, and made pastoral calls on the sick and shut-in. 2011-2012.
Interim Christian Education Director: The Rev. Bill Doggett (left) has a PhD in liturgical studies, and wrote his dissertation on hymns and hymnals for children, 2011-2012
Former Emmanuel Rector: The Rev. Daniel W. Eckman, Jr. (right) joined Emmanuel in 1998 as Priest-in-Charge and became Rector in 2000. After thirteen years of service at Emmanuel, Dan retired in July 2011. During his tenure, Dan oversaw a successful renovation of the church's physical plant and the church's active involvement in community and world missions. As a church leader, Dan placed a high priority on active pastoral care, spiritual growth, and involved outreach.
