What to Expect

Sunday Services. Please see our Worship tab for current information on service options.

Greeters. Stationed at the entrances to the church, greeters welcome parishioners, newcomers and visitors to Sunday services. They are ready to assist and answer any questions. At the end of each service, the clergy, joined by a member of the vestry, greets each person at the end of service with a hand-shake and welcomes all to coffee hour which is held each Sunday immediately after the service.

Visitor Card. We ask that newcomers and visitors complete a visitor card located on the back of the pews and place it in the offering plate. This is one way we are able to get to know you and include you in church activities.

Parking and Entrances. An abundance of street parking is available around the church. The entrance to the front of the parish for Sunday services is on Mason Street. The front entrance to the administrative offices and the preschool is on Russell Road.

Accessibility. The complete first floor of our facility (including the church, parish hall, and restrooms) are accessible for those with disabilities. The ramp access for the church is on Mason Avenue and we have a lift in the foyer to access the parish hall. Please ask an usher for assistance.

Dress. To Sunday service, some people in the congregation wear business attire, some wear "business casual" and some wear sweaters and jeans and other casual clothing.

Coffee Hour. We invite all newcomers and visitors to join us for fellowship immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service each Sunday. We find that coffee hour is a great way to meet new people, catch up with old friends, and discuss the happenings of Emmanuel in an informal setting.

Communion and Blessing. Join us for communion or receive a blessing. See Communion and Blessing.

Questions? Feel free to contact us or make an appointment with the rector (703-683-0798).
