Do you know how our altar flowers get to our altar each week? Under an arrangement with a local florist, a bunch of flowers is delivered to the church on Friday mornings, for a weekly fee of $50. On Saturday morning, a volunteer member of the Altar Guild arranges the flowers for both the chapel and the main altar. After the 10:30 service, the flower arrangements are delivered to someone on the prayer list or to the parishioner(s) who donated $50 for the flowers that week. Ideally, we'd like the altar flowers to be a self-sustaining operation, and thus avoid requiring financial support form the church's operating budget. To do so, we are dependent upon continuous, sustaining flower donations from our parish members.
There is a large flower sign up calendar hanging on the bulletin board behind the coffee table in the parish hall. You can sign up for any Sunday throughout the year. Checks in the amount of $50 can be made out to "Emmanuel Church" and dropped off at the Church office or put in the collection plate, or you can donate on-line by electronic funds transfer or by credit card (Master Card, Visa, or Discover Card.) If you wish you can have a memoriam printed in the bulletin recognizing that you have donated altar flowers in memory of a loved one or in thanksgiving for someone or a life event.
