Emmanuel Episcopal Church kicked off the 2026–27 program year with an old-fashioned hymn sing, interwoven with scripture highlighting the important role music plays in our faith. Our organist, Ryan, improvised creatively and played every request, while choir members sang with great enthusiasm. It is always fun to hear everyone’s favorite hymns—and especially fun to sing Christmas and Easter favorites outside their usual seasons! As tradition would have it, Thomas Cruz selected his perennial favorite, “Go Down, Moses,” and once again someone chose “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” a meaningful reminder of how deeply Emmanuel values diversity and inclusion. The service was joyfully led from the front by Chuck and Jen, serving as our enthusiastic “hymn-jockeys” for the morning.
