Do you belong to any clubs? Do you play sports or music in a group? If so, you're part of a declining trend in American life: social, civil engagement. The number of Americans who belong to clubs, churches, teams and groups has plummeted in the past 40 years with dire consequences for our nation's, and our own, health. Loneliness and online life has skyrocketed while democracy and civility are endangered. What can we all do?
"Join or Die" is a documentary that uses research from Dr. Robert Putnam's book "Bowling Alone" to explore the depressing trend and suggest solutions. Join a club, join a team...and join us in the Memorial Room on September 28, refreshments and social time at 6:30 pm, screening at 7:00 pm, followed by discussion. Bring a friend!
